La Caixa and the ACB sign agreement
The “la Caixa” group will be the Main Sponsors of the Copa del Rey tournaments to be held in 2015 and 2016.
The "la Caixa" Group will become the Main Sponsors of the next two editions of the Copa del Rey, Gran Canaria 2015, and A Coruña 2016. The agreement was signed last week.
Gonzalo Gortázar, Managing Director of CaixaBank; Jaume Giró, Director General of Fundación Bancaria "la Caixa"; and Francisco Roca, Executive President of the ACB, signed the strategic sponsorship deal.
The agreement will see the bank entity presided by Isidro Faine reinforce its commitment to basketball after becoming the official sponsor of the Spanish Basketball Federation and their sponsoring of the 2014 World Championships held in Spain.
Gonzalo Gortázar is confident that the sponsorship deal will see the "la Caixa" group “united with a tournament which has a powerful social and media impact, both on a national and international front. Basketball exemplifies teamwork, talent and also mutual respect between fans".
Jaume Giró highlighted that the agreement "will not only add to our presence in the two regions hosting the Copa del Rey but will also increase our commitment to the Canary Islands and Galicia. It will also provide more opportunities for those groups at risk of social exclusion in the two autonomous communities".
Francisco Roca added that the “la Caixa” Group and the “ACB” will develop a series of activities to help promote the event. The activities will all be centered on the positive values of sport, integration, the importance of coexistence and also respect for the environment."
