Letter from IOC President to NOCs (Kaohsiung/Lausanne)
On March 6, the president of the International Olympic Committee Mr. Jacques Rogge addressed National Olympic Committees, mentioning that “The IOC encourages those NOCs with recognized national federations participating in the World Games to support their involvement in these Games”.
In 2000, when the IOC and IWGA signed a memorandum of understanding, a formalized close relationship had been created, which should have greater support from NOC side as a result. Through this increased support, Mr. Rogge hopes, experience of athletes and officials at TWG can be maximized and expertise by NOCs can be utilized.
The World Games 2009 in Kaohsiung will have more than 4,000 athletes from almost 100 countries competing for medals in 31 sports.
