Massive Broadcast Distribution for FIVB World Grand Champions Cup 2009

Volleyball - 09 Nov 2009

Following on from the great success gained from the previous event in 2005, IEC in Sports, the Swedish based, Lagardère owned media rights specialist, has again exceeded expectations by guaranteeing an unprecedented level of coverage for the 2009 edition of the FIVB World Grand Champions Cup.

The quadrennial Volleyball tournament is one of the most important events on the FIVB calendar, as it features the champions of each continent facing off against each other to determine who are the "Grand Champions" of Women's and Men's Volleyball. The women's event gets underway on Tuesday November 10th with matches in Tokyo followed by Fukuoka, while the men's event starts on November 18th with games played in Osaka and Nagoya.

Host broadcaster Nippon Television Network Corporation (NTV) and its distribution and international coordination partner on the event IEC in Sports are proud to announce that the 2009 edition of the FIVB World Grand Champions Cup will benefit from distribution on all major continents, thanks to the agency's extensive network of contacts the world over which will see the event broadcast in over 100 countries. Some of the bigger broadcasters include Eurosport across 54 European territories, Al Jazeera across 23 territories throughout the Middle East and North Africa, whilst TV Globo, arguably South America's most prominent broadcaster and one of the world's leading media companies, ensures outstanding coverage in Brazil on their sports channel SporTV. Comprehensive coverage across Asia is guaranteed through over 10 broadcasters and the event will even be televised in Australia by leading sports broadcaster Fox Sports.

Jonas Persson, CEO of IEC in Sports, added "We are pleased to work with NTV and the FIVB again on this prestigious property which will be covered in so many territories around the world. Our agency remains very focused on Volleyball and the widespread global coverage of the World Grand Champions Cup demonstrates our commitment to the sport."

NTV, one of the world's leading commercial networks, will ensure full coverage of the entire 30 matches in both high and standard definition, guaranteeing the utmost quality and broadest coverage of what is one of the world's most important international Volleyball tournaments with total prize money of USD 2 million. NTV will also provide significant coverage of the event domestically in Japan on its main terrestrial network, together with its sports channel G+.

Commenting on its partnership with IEC in Sports, which will now extend through to 2013, Tomoya Takahashi, NTV Chief Producer of the Sports Division, said, "It is an honor to continue working in this wonderful partnership with IEC for this large-scale international tournament where champions representing each continent gather once every four years to compete for the title of grand champion. We are thrilled that NTV is able to distribute this tournament to Volleyball and sports fans around the world to watch and enjoy."?
