ATP President to Attend FT Sport Industry Summit 2007

Business - 24 Aug 2007

The Sport Industry Group and the Financial Times are delighted to announce that Etienne de Villiers, Executive Chairman and President of men’s tennis tour the ATP, is confirmed as a speaker at the FT Sport Industry Summit 2007 on 1st November.

Etienne de Villiers has led the sport of men’s tennis since June 2005 having previously been president and managing director of Walt Disney International responsible for the global giant’s international TV business.

Since his arrival at the ATP, de Villiers has undertaken ambitious and wide ranging plans to realise the sport’s potential. Through the introduction of new sponsorship partners and world class executives off the court; and innovations such as electronic line calling and changes to the doubles format on it, the Tour has grown, with overall revenues, TV viewing figures and attendance figures all on the up.

De Villiers will join a host of high-profile panellists at the FT Sport Industry Summit 2007 with the event featuring an array of debates, interviews and keynote addresses outlined in which sport’s top decision-makers from government, governing bodies, broadcast and media, sponsorship, finance and business will discuss the key issues affecting the industry.

Among the other speakers already confirmed for this year’s Summit include Dick Pound, chairman of WADA and former IOC vice president; Nick Fry, CEO, Honda F1 Racing; David Gill, CEO, Manchester United; Brian Barwick, chief executive, The Football Association; Paul Deighton, CEO, London 2012 organising committee LOCOG; Saul Pearce, vice president, Samsung Europe; Jacques Raynaud, vice-chairman, Eurosport International; and Randall Campbell, managing director – head of the sports advisory and finance group, Societe Generale Corporate Investment Bank.

Further high-profile additions to the speaker list for the FT Sport Industry Summit 2007 will be announced in the coming weeks.

These leaders represent a selection of the industry’s key protagonists, from all across the globe, who will make up the panels at the FT Sport Industry Summit 2007, offering their insight and experience to the array of delegates from all sectors of the sport industry who will gather for this year’s event.

There is just over one week left for you to claim your £150 early-booker discount. For more information on the FT Sport Industry Summit 2007 or to book delegate places, please contact the Sport Industry Group on 0207 240 7702 or log on to the website, http://www.sportindustry.biz/.
