The International Badminton Federation, after years of deliberation, has made the move from Cheltenham, United Kingdom to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. This move is only the first step in the plans that the badminton governing body has for the sport.
In conjunction with the launch of the new office, the IBF will be holding its annual Council Meeting from the 7 to 9 December, at the Hotel Istana in Kuala Lumpur. This meeting will be followed by the official opening ceremony of the IBF office, on 10 December 2005 at Stadium Badminton Kuala Lumpur in Cheras. It is expected that the event will be attended by Malaysian and foreign dignitaries.
The Council Meeting will be held to discuss matters concerning the changes in the sport of badminton, mainly with the scoring system. The 21-point scoring system is being experimented with throughout the world and has received positive reviews.
At the end of the Council Meeting sessions, IBF will hold a press conference on 9 December 2005, at 5.30pm in Hotel Istana Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
