Off Shore Powerboat Racing Goes Global
In a ground breaking agreement inked at the Sarasota Powerboat Festival Florida last weekend, two of the foremost companies in Off Shore powerboat racing, APBA Off Shore and Supercatz Promotions Ltd have entered into a licence deal and marketing programme to take the sport global.
The five-year agreement, will see the American Supercat class of catamaran powerboat being raced not only at venues in North America, but also in the Far East, Australia and Europe.
This new international race series to be known as the Ultracatz Global Challenge, will have a race field of 20 boats. Already ten teams have committed, with strong interest coming from other teams from the US and around the world. Each race will be televised with production and distribution being handled by Sunset & Vine.
The race calendar is scheduled to start in Hong Kong's Victoria Harbour, as part of the Lunar New Year festivities.
All series marketing and sponsorship is being handled by Supercatz Promotions, which is a joint venture company with The Television Corporation Plc.
