Online Ticket Sales for the FIBA Olympic Qualifying Tournament for Women

Τickets for the 2008 FIBA Olympic Qualifying Tournament for Women are available to the general public as of today, 22^nd May 2008, the Spanish Basketball Federation has announced.

The FIBA Olympic Qualifying Tournament for Women will be played in Madrid (Spain), in the 10.500-seat Telefónica Madrid Arena, from 9^th to 15^th June 2008.

Tickets can be bought through www.entradas.com. Purchasing a daily event ticket, for just 6 euros, will allow the buyer to attend all games played on a particular competition date. Tickets will be available for pick-up as of 9^th June at the Telefónica Madrid Arena box offices upon presentation of the proof of payment, together with the credit card used for the transaction and an official ID. The FIBA Olympic Qualifying Tournament for Women will determine the remaining five women's berths for the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games and will feature the following participants: Senegal and Angola (Africa), Cuba, Brazil and Argentina (Americas), Japan and Chinese Taipei (Asia), Spain, Belarus, Latvia and Czech Republic (Europe) and Fiji (Oceania).

The following seven teams have already booked their tickets for the Olympic Basketball Tournament for Women that will take place in Beijing (China), from 9^th to 23^rd August 2008: China (host), Australia (World Champion), Mali (African Champion), USA (Champion of the Americas), Korea (Asian Champion), Russia (European Champion) and New Zealand (Oceanian runner-up).

Listed below are the composition of the four groups, as well as the complete tournament schedule. Please note that all tip-off hours are local time in Madrid, Spain.

Group A: Japan, Latvia and Senegal

Group B: Angola, Argentina and Czech Republic

Group C: Brazil, Fiji and Spain

Group D: Belarus, Chinese Taipei and Cuba

12:45 hours: Spain vs. Fiji

15:30 hours: Chinese Taipei vs. Cuba

17:45 hours: Latvia vs. Senegal

20:00 hours: Czech Republic vs. Argentina

12:45 hours: Cuba vs. Belarus

15:00 hours: Senegal vs. Japan

17:15 hours: Fiji vs. Brazil

19:30 hours: Argentina vs. Angola

12:45 hours: Brazil vs. Spain

15:00 hours: Latvia vs. Japan

17:15 hours: Belarus vs. Chinese Taipei

19:30 hours: Angola vs. Czech Republic

The teams placed 1^st and 2^nd in each group will advance to the Quarter-Finals; the teams placed 3^rd in each group will be eliminated and may return home.

12^th June 2008: Rest Day

The games of the Quarter-Finals will be played at 12:45 hours, 15:00 hours, 17:15 hours and 19:30 hours. The order of games will be confirmed after the end of the Preliminary Round.

The four winners of the Quarter-Finals will qualify for the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games and may return home. The four losers will play in the Semi-Finals.
