Outstanding TV Coverage For Archery In Madrid Last Week

Archery - 29 Jun 2005

Lausanne, Switzerland - After a repeated interest in Sydney and then Athens for live broadcasting of archery events, the International Archery Federation (FITA) enjoyed an outstanding TV coverage for its 43rd World Outdoor Target Archery Championships in Madrid, Spain at the end of June.

The Spanish television RTVE broadcast the finals live with a 7-camera van. The mornings of June 25 and 26 were entirely covered and offered to Eurovision.

A 26-minute final summary was distributed on June 29 and it was recaptured by RAI (Italy), Channel 9 (Australia), RTR (Russia), ALTV (Albania) and TRT (Turkey). ESPN-Star TV will also broadcast this highlight program twice, as well as OLN in the United States.

On sight in Madrid a 3-person team of Trans World Sport followed the finals from Friday on and made a 4-minute report that will be broadcast this week on more than 50 televisions and about 20 airline companies.

Another English team (it is obvious many people are interested in archery) stayed on sight for 4 days to prepare a 15-minute item intended for the channels Fox in USA, Australia, the Near East, SKY UK and Italy, ESPN Star in Asia. TRT covered also the election of the new FITA President from Turkey.

This item produced by Pro Active will help to better understand some aspects of archery: techniques, disciplines, athletes, material and safety.

Finally, Eurovision and Reuters broadcasted on June 26 a 3-minute news item to all their subscribers in the world: close to 2000 TV channels received this item.
