Over 30,000 Russian Spectators Prepare For the 2007 Waterski and Wakeboard World Cup Series

Waterskiing - 23 Jul 2007

OVER 30,000 RUSSIAN SPECTATORS PREPARE FOR THE 2007 WATERSKI AND WAKEBOARD WORLD CUP SERIES

The International Waterski Federation (IWSF) has just released details of the 2007 Waterski and Wakeboard World Cup series. Following seventeen successful Stops around the world to date, the journey now continues on to Russia, Northern Ireland, Singapore and Qatar.

For the first time, the 2007 World Cup series will be Webcast by World Championship Sports Network (WCSN). This is the premier destination for fans of both Olympic and lifestyle sports and currently delivers comprehensive coverage of over 60 different sports disciplines. This coverage includes news updates, in-depth interviews with athletes and an archive of major past events. Details are available at http://www.wcsn.com/

The extensive World Cup TV broadcast support programme includes a News Distribution feature for each Stop which is distributed by Reuters and the European Broadcast Union (EBU) to 400 million viewers via 1,000 TV affiliates in 95 countries, a 26 minute edited Feature Show for 100 million viewers worldwide   and a Media Release service for 16,500 contacts in over 100 countries.

Russia’s Dubna Stop of this 2007 World Cup series is always one of the most spectacular. This picturesque City is located just north of Moscow on the Volga River. It is regarded as Russia’s premier watersports centre. The event has proved to be so successful in past years that the City has constructed permanent seating at the competition site for over 30,000 spectators – and there will be no empty seats next weekend on July 28/29. The famous Nekhaevski’s Waterski School is based here. Over the years, its athletes have captured eight World Championship Medals, five World Records and nine European Records.

Only the top ranked IWSF athletes qualify for entry. With an estimated 30 million active participants around the world, qualification itself is an enormous challenge. This year, Dubna will host the very best from Greece, USA, France, Colombia, Belarus, Canada, Belgium, Australia, Mexico, Chile, Great Britain, Denmark, New Zealand and Russia. The defending champions of this Dubna Stop in 2006 will return once again to defend their titles.

MasterCraft, as a World Cup Sponsor, have supplied the competition boats both for this Dubna Stop and all the past seventeen Stops. One of these was purchased by the City of Dubna to ensure that their athletes can train with the best equipment available. Watch out for an update on the latest news on the competing athletes in the coming days.
