President Diack Unopposed - Election Candidates are Announced - 46th IAAF Congress

Monte-Carlo - The highest decision making body of the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF), the IAAF Congress will meet in Osaka, Japan for its 46th edition on the 22 / 23 August 2007**, a few days prior to the opening of the 11th IAAF World Championships in Athletics in the city (25 Aug to 2 Sep).

The delegates at the 46th IAAF Congress - at which all 212 Member Federations of the IAAF are entitled to be represented - will give their votes in the elections to decide the composition of IAAF Council and various IAAF Committees.

Significantly, in terms of the composition of Council, for the position of President there is only one candidate, that of the incumbent Lamine Diack (SEN), and that is also the case for the role of Honorary Treasurer for which Jean Poczobut (FRA) is the only candidate standing.

There are 8 nominees for the four positions of Vice Presidents; 6 names have been put forward for the four seats as Female Individual Members; 29 names are contesting the eleven positions available for Individual Members.
