Professional Darts Corporation Gets £200,000 Sponsorship
The Professional Darts Corporation and the Laurel Pub Company have teamed up in an extraordinary £200,000 sponsorship deal for the newly launched UK Open series.
Laurel will be the headline sponsor for all five UK Open English Regional Finals and host a series of in-pub open qualifiers that all darts players, male and female, can enter free of charge.
More than 150 pubs will take part in the qualifiers, whereby thousands of darts players from across England can compete for the chance to qualify for one or all of five English Regional Finals.
Each nominated Laurel house will host a total of five qualifiers, each producing winners who will go on to the next Regional Final, where they will come face-to-face with the world's best darts players including Phil Taylor,
Alan Warriner, Dennis Priestley to name just a few.
From there the top 128 money earners will earn the right to compete in the UK Open Grand Final at the Reebok Stadium, 30th May-1st June 2003 - live on Sky Sports.
Each Regional Final has a phenomenal prize fund of £14,400 and will be staged over two days in a Laurel venue.
This new partnership between the PDC and the Laurel Pub Group is yet another development that highlights the status of professional darts and proves that the PDC are committed to encouraging new sporting talent at the grassroots
of the game - the professionals of tomorrow.
