Badminton stars and fairy tales attract tourists to Denmark
The demand for tickets to the 2014 BWF World Badminton Championships held August 25th to 31st in the Danish capital Copenhagen has been overwhelming. People from India and all over the world will travel to Denmark to see the world’s top badminton stars’ fight for the glory.
This week sports and tourism organisations have teamed up with the Danish Badminton legends Peter Gade and Poul Erik Høyer and visited both China and India as well as online video with Peter Gade has been launched.
An intimate event set up
"It is our hope to make these Championships a unique event for all badminton fans in the world, and of course we hope to see a lot of Indian fans in Copenhagen during the event. As a part of the Danish way to stage sports events we will bring spectators very close to the athletes in order to have an intimate event set up," says Chief Executive in Badminton Denmark Charlotte Malmroes.
Expected record numbers of Indian visitors
"In 2014 we expect a record number of Indian visitors to come to Denmark" says Director in VisitDenmark Flemming Bruhn. "The Badminton Championship has huge interest in India, but also the Danish strong historical and cultural heritage, fairy tales, dynamic and innovative elements, attracts many tourists.
