Re-scheduled Badminton Meeting to Discuss Finals Venue
The Executive Board meeting of the International Badminton Federation has been rescheduled and will now take place on 2 November in Thailand.
The meeting was due to have been held on 23 September in Lima, Peru, but was postponed because of travel difficulties in light of recent events in the USA. The Panamerican Championships, which were due to be held at the same time in Lima, will now take place from 24-30 October.
On the agenda for the meeting in Bangkok will be the venue for the 2002 Thomas & Uber Cup Finals, initial reaction to the experimental 5 x 7 scoring system currently in use at all IBF and World Grand Prix events, and the impact on badminton of the deteriorating world economic outlook.
The Executive Board will also discuss possible changes to the Regulations on international representation, progress with recent cases involving badminton at the Court of Arbitration for Sport and finalisation of the Olympic Qualifying System for approval by the International Olympic Committee.
