Rugby Football League to Investigate Betting Allegations
The Rugby Football League has today (Friday) referred the allegations made against St Helens players Sean Long and Martin Gleeson in the Daily Mail newspaper to its Disciplinary Commissioner for a full and thorough investigation as a matter of urgency.
The RFL has asked the Daily Mail to provide a details and evidence of their allegations and any further information they may have concerning the matter. Currently the RFL has not received any such documents from the newspaper.
The management of the St Helens club have confirmed that they will co-operate fully with the RFL investigation.
The Operational Rules of the RFL specifically forbid betting and associated activity.
