Russia and Ukraine to tie-break in WSB Playoffs' Quarterfinals

Boxing - 28 Mar 2014

Are you ready to broadcast historical boxing event?

March 30th and April 4th :
Russian Boxing Team Vs Ukraine Otamans

April 4th and April 11th :
USA Knockouts vs. Cuba Domadores

The International Boxing Association (AIBA) and the World Series of Boxing (WSB) have announced that both legs of the WSB quarter-final match between the Russian Boxing Team and the Ukraine Otamans will be maintained on a home and away basis. The first leg will be held on March 30 in Moscow (Russia), and the second leg on April 4 in Donetsk (Ukraine). This decision has been made based on the main principle of the Olympic Movement, which is that sport should always be dealt with outside of politics. Both teams have fully agreed on this principle and AIBA/WSB is extremely happy that the opinion of both teams has been respected.

The winner of this quarterfinal will then face the winner of the other intense match of the round : USA Knockouts vs. Cuba Domadores. First leg to be held on April 28 in either Russia or Ukraine, and second leg on May 4 in either the USA or Cuba.

About AIBA :
The International Boxing Association (AIBA) is a non-profit international organization which was founded under the name Fédération Internationale de Boxe Amateur (FIBA) in 1920. In 1946, a new start was given with the launch of AIBA to replace the dissolved FIBA. Today, AIBA, with its 195 National Member Federations, continues to govern the sport of boxing, working for the benefit of the sport and all its stakeholders, to help boxing realize its goals within the Olympic Movement and the international sporting arena.

About WSB :
Developed by AIBA, the World Series of Boxing (WSB) is a unique concept. It is the first ever pro-style competition where boxers retain their Olympic eligibility and moreover, the first event which sees national-based pro boxing teams go head to head in a league format. It represents the future of boxing.
