27 different nations already signed up for the UCI World Cycling Tour Finals in Denmark

Cycling - 17 Jun 2015

From Australia and South Africa to the United States and Canada. The riders come from all corners of the world to participate in the UCI World Cycling Tour Finals that are staged from 3-6th September 2015 in Aalborg and Hobro in Denmark.

With three months to go to the UCI World Cycling Tour Finals 2015 registrations from the qualified riders from all over the world have started. More than 350 riders from 27 different nations have already announced their arrival.

President of the Danish Cycling Federation, Niels Sørensen, says:

"The working groups in Aalborg and Hobro make a fantastic job to get this huge event in order to stage the event in an epic way.”

The world of cycling can look forward to the time trials in Hobro on Thursday, September 3, a Team Relay Friday night in Aalborg city and the road race with start and finish in Aalborg on Sunday, September 6th.

Denmark a sporting event nation

The organizers expect that up to 1,500 Danish and foreign riders with 40 different nationalities for the start of races.

"Northern Jutland is a stunning backdrop for major international sporting events. Events like UCI World Cycling Tour Finals and golf tournament Made in Denmark European Tour brand Denmark as a sporting event nation and destination. Cycling is part of the Danish culture and Denmark has staged the UCI Road World Championships in 2011 and the big start of the Giro d'Italia in 2012 along with a series of other cycling races such as the Gran Fondo Copenhagen," says Lars Lundov, CEO of Sport Event Denmark.

There has been qualifying races for the UCI World Cycling Tour Finals in Brazil, Great Britain, Slovenia, Italy and Austria and earlier this year also in Denmark and in countries such as Australia, Dubai, South Africa, Canada and France.

The UCI World Cycling Tour Finals will be staged in cooperation between the Danish Cycling Federation, Sport Event Denmark, Aalborg, Hobro, the municipality of Mariagerfjord and Aalborg Cycling-Ring and Hobro Cycling Club.
