Barrett & McEwan win World Bowling Tour events showcasing a spectacular 300 game

Bowling - 22 Feb 2016

LAUSANNE, February 22 – England’s Dom Barrett and USA’s Danielle McEwan win the men’s and women’s World Bowling Tour final matches respectively in an exciting showcase event presented by the Professional Bowlers Association. The final wraps up the 15 event, global series tour and features a new trial scoring system labelled “Current Frame Scoring”.

The finals aired last night on ESPN and featured the perfect 300 Game from Barrett against USA’s Mike Fagan who scored 256 in the title match. The semi-finals saw a close game between Fagan and Australia’s Jason Belmonte with Fagan moving on with a win of 265 over Belmonte’s 256. In the women’s event, youngster McEwan took on seasoned veteran and number one in ranking points, Kelly Kulick to win the title with a nail biting finish where McEwan took 256 to Kulick’s 243. USA’s Liz Johnson was beaten by McEwan in the semi-finals with McEwan triumphing on a final score of 256 to Johnson’s 233.

The event wraps up the end of the 2014/2015 rolling point’s tour which has seen over 700 of the best bowlers from across the world compete in an exciting list of global host cities including Tokyo, Kuwait City, Munich and Las Vegas.

Current Frame Scoring maintains the traditional 10-frame scoring format but awards 30 pins for a strike, 10 pins for a spare plus the pinfall of the first shot in the frame and actual pinfall after two shots in an open frame. The maximum score is still 300 and this figure is based on the player receiving 10 consecutive strikes with no bonus pins being awarded in the 10th frame.

About The World Bowling Tour: The World Bowling Tour is sanctioned by World Bowling, the governing body for the sport of bowling. The tour is the premier international bowling series that is hosted in numerous, unique cities around the globe. Men and women compete for points to earn places on The World Bowling Tour rankings. The points system is based on a continuous two-year cycle, where points include every event from the previous two years format.
