South American Bikejoring And Canicross Championship 2005
The success of the event can be measured by the number of participants that entered from places within and surrounding Argentina - entrants included mushers from Peru, Columbia, Chile and in Argentina from Buenos Aires, Tandil, Mandoza and even mushers from the end of the world i.e. Ushuaia -gateway to the Antarctic. Brigita Albertova from Slovakia, although not-eligible for the Championship, participated in the Canicross event and had the best time amongst the women with a time of 13:13.
The colorful display of South Americans attending this event is testimony to the role that IFSS has played in the development of the sport in South America where the transport of all the entrants outside of Argentina was paid by IFSS except that of Brigita Albertova.
The winners of the South American Bikejoring and Canicross Championship was Hugo Flores from Ushuaia in the Bikejoring race with a time of 10:00 minutes. A very close second was Tandil native Diaz Hernan running sheepdog Scooby with a time of 10:02 and third was fellow Argentinian Paz Marcelo with a time of 12:38. Women's winner, Maria Laura Juarez had a winning time of 19:12.
