Sportcal.com Presents Reports to European Group of Television Advertising
Sportcal.com, the leading sports industry analyst and information provider, last week presented its two recently-published and highly-acclaimed reports, THE WORLD CUP REPORT – Fifa and the financial lessons of the world's richest sports event, and THE EUROPEAN SOCCER REPORT – the TV rights slump and the commercial prospects for Europe's top five soccer leagues, to the European Group of Television Advertising.
The EGTA thematic day sponsored by Sipra discussed the ‘real’ value of television advertising around football events, and asked how much sales houses should contribute to the definition of a ‘more realistic’ price for the broadcasting of football events?
Speaking on the subject, ‘Football broadcast rights: where does the crazy spiral stop?,’ Sportcal.com drew on the two reports to argue that in many European countries the spiral has already stopped, illustrating the theme with in-depth analysis and original projections showing that mergers, takeovers and bankruptcies among Europe’s pay-television operators is certain to result in diminished or even negligible competition for top sports rights.
The thematic day was attended by leading television sports experts and senior advertising sales house executives, including: Paolo Francia, Head of Sports – RAI; Beatrice Riesenfelder, Head of Sponsorship & Special Ads - ORF Enterprises; Roberto Di Russo, CEO - Raitrade and Club Channels Association; and Alessandro Pegoraro, Managing Director - Yahoo.
The EGTA is a trade association for television and multimedia advertising based in Brussels, comprising 40 sales houses and/or commercial departments representing some 100 television channels spread across 26 European countries (and Korea). Collecting well over €16 billion, EGTA members bring in more than 60 per cent of all television advertising in Europe (for further information please visit www.egta.com)
