Sportsworld Media in Sponsorship Deal with UK's Top Racecourses

Super 12 Racing, the new company set up to promote the collective commercial rights of Britain’s top 12 racecourses, has appointed Sportsworld Media Group as its exclusive sponsorship agency.

Sportsworld, the brand-focussed, sports and lifestyle communications company will be marketing the title sponsorship inventory for the new Super 12 Challenges, consisting of a year-round series of major televised Saturday flat and jump races at all Super 12 courses, which commence in May 2002.

They will also be handling the other main elements of the Super 12 commercial programme including a group of official supplier packages.

The appointment gives Sportsworld its first opportunity in Horse Racing representation and adds to the companies growing portfolio of premier international events and organisations including the England and Wales Cricket Board, the Association of Surf Professionals, the International Triathlon Union, the Toyota F1 Team and The National Basketball League of Australia.

Kim Deshayes, Chief Executive of Super 12 Racing, said of the deal, 'We are delighted to be working with a company of the calibre of Sportsworld to develop these very exciting opportunities for the premier British racecourses and prospective sponsors. Sportsworld’s track record in introducing long term commercial partners and innovations into other major sports convinced us that they were the ideal agency to market the Super 12 inventory.'

Marcus Wight, MD Sportsworld Media Group commented: 'The Super 12 Challenges provides a year round platform for companies to promote their brands on a weekly basis to large television audiences.

'The key now is to find the right brands who want to work with Super 12, the broadcasters and the individual major courses to broaden the appeal of horseracing through promoting The Super 12 Challenges. The Super 12 Challenges will be exciting to brands because it means that there is now one point of entry which will allow them to achieve their marketing objectives.'

Douglas Erskine–Crum, Chief Executive of Ascot Racecourse also commented, 'Ascot is very supportive of this exciting opportunity and will work closely with our Super 12 partners to make it a great success for sponsors and participants.'

Andrew Franklin, Executive Producer of Channel 4 Racing says, 'I welcome the Super 12 initiative by the major racecourses, which will help to further broaden racing’s appeal to the TV audience.'
