Television Corporation Acquires Second Powerboat Promoter
The Television Corporation plc has today announced the acquisition of Offshore Sport Promotion through a shares related and other considerations deal. The deal gives the Television Corporation unrivalled access to the world of offshore power boat racing, and will fit perfectly alongside its existing Supercatz project.
OSP has been granted the worldwide promotional, television and commercial rights to the Class1 World Offshore Championships for an extended longer-term period. The sport involves state of the art fibre glass/Kevlar powerboats racing each other at 160 mph, often just inches apart, with their pilots strapped into jet fighter canopies.
This year, OSP is the promoter of 9 races held at destinations across the Middle East and Europe. The combination of these luxurious destinations, as well as the exhilarating nature of the sport, has created highly dramatic television.
The Championship, which has been running since 1965, attracts in excess of 150,000 people per event, and alongside Supercatz, will allow the Television Corporation to deliver global recognition to this under-exploited sport.
OSP and its management have been involved in the Class1 championship for the last 3 years. They will continue to manage OSP, and to provide further invaluable industry expertise and contacts to the Supercatz project.
