The ICF Agrees with Hit the Roof (HTF) to Produce Highlights of 2009 World Cups

Canoeing - 05 May 2009

The ICF is excited to announce that is has secured a TV production company, Hit the Roof (HTR) to produce highlights of the Canoe Sprint and Canoe Slalom World Cups for 2009. HTR have extensive experience handling TV sport production for Wrestling, Archery and Universiade events.

ICF Secretary General, Simon Toulson commented ‘The ICF President and Board of Directors have clearly stated that this project is of utmost importance in our strategy to improve our international exposure and showcase how exciting our sport is. By having HTR on board we can control how the Broadcast will look and we can really bring out the celebrities and talent we have in the World Cups and World Championships this year.’

The format for the World Cups is simple. HTR will work alongside existing National Broadcasters to produce 26 minute highlight packages and news stories from each ICF World Cup. The footage will then be distributed, without client fees, through various Broadcasting channels including EBU which the ICF has a long standing contract. In addition to overall coverage, HTR will be conducting interviews with many athletes and officials during the World Cups, in order to give the viewer a better understanding of the technical side of canoeing and also to highlight the stars in the sport.

Toulson also highlighted ‘We have invested in a TV graphics package, using expertise from Liquid TV, which uses the new ICF logo in a very dynamic and visually exciting way. This will be used to standardise and promote our broadcasting of canoeing events’.

The ICF’s first Canoe Sprint World Cup will be in Racice, Czech Republic 8 – 10 May and will finish in Augsburg Germany for Canoe Slalom 11 – 12 July 2009.

Hit the Roof is a production company based in Geneva, Switzerland www.htroffice.ch.

Liquid TV is a TV graphics company in London, England that have been responsible for TV Graphics for Formula one, English Football Association and International Volleyball as well as many films and TV programmes. www.liquid.co.uk
