TWG2009 Promotion in Tokyo

Multi-sport games - 06 Mar 2009

2009/03/06  (Tokyo, Japan) In order to promote The World Games 2009 (TWG2009) in Kaohsiung among Japanese media and sports fans, a press conference was held at the Park Hyatt Hotel in Tokyo on March 5, 2009. Kaohsiung city Mayor Chen Chu handed the invitation to media professionals, who will promote the event in Japan.

The press conference started at 3 p.m. and counted with the well-known Japanese architect, Toyo Ito, responsible for designing The World Games 2009 Main Stadium.

There were also present Mr Watanabe Kunio, architectural structure consultant for Kaohsiung Arena, and Fu Tsu Construction Chairman Lin Chin-Puo. The conference was also enlightened with the presence of Executive Director of the Organizing Committee of The World Games in Akita (2001) Mr. Morooka, and with the gold medalist in the men’s trampoline during the test events Mr. Shunsuke Nagasaki among others.

The prestigious guests were available to share their experience about The World Games, introduce the amusement of the event and to unveil the magnificence of The World Games 2009 Main Stadium and Kaohsiung Arena.

Mayor Chen sealed the letter of invitation, which was personally written in Japanese by herself, and invited Japanese population to join the largest multi sport event in 2009. The letter was enclosed on a clear glass bottle with The World Games logo embossed. The “letter in a bottle” concept represents the earnest wishes of the Ocean city and the warmest welcome from Kaohsiung citizens to Japanese tourists.

The conference was an initiative of Kaohsiung City Government and the Kaohsiung Organizing Committee (KOC), and a friendly reminder for the proximity of the event that will happen from July 16th to 26th, 2009.
