A medical monitoring programme for all professional riders has been introduced by the UCI - the result of a progressively structured system over recent years. The programe is effective from the beginning of this year. Following the most recent scientific results, the UCI Management Committee have decided that every rider should provide a personal health record detailling any treatment received. The programme has received approval from the professional riders who have been awaiting clear and universal regulations. The UCI is the first International Federation to bring in a defined medical monitoring programme for professional riders, and hopes that others will follow suit to illustrate their commitment to fighting the use of illegal substances within sport.
