UCI World Champions in the glow of rainbows in Denmark

Cycling - 07 Sep 2015

The UCI World Cycling Tour Final in Denmark turned out just the colorful bike- and folk festival that the organizers had aimed for. The UCI World Cycling Tour Champions in 17 Road Race classes and 18 TT classes were celebrated with the characteristic UCI rainbow jersey over the weekend.

More than 2000 riders - a record number of participants - from 47 nations and plenty of spectators created the festive celebration of cycling in Hobro and Aalborg. Rain showers completed the image with rainbows spanning over the championship.

Never before have so many participants attended a UCI World Cycling Tour Final: More than 2,000 riders from 47 nations! The organizers and partners unanimously praise riders, volunteers and spectators.

"We have had incredibly positive feedback from both the UCI and the riders. It means a lot to us. We had made the setting for celebration of cycling in cooperation with the host cities Hobro and Aalborg and Sport Event Denmark. Without the volunteers this celebration would not been possible. There is no doubt that this UCI World Cycling Tour Final will be an event that many will look back on with joy," says president of the Danish Cycling Federation, Niels Sørensen.

"This is the first UCI World Cycling Tour Final I have attended. My impression is really good. Good organization, good framework, many spectators and a great race on a very fine course. The race had the toughness and quality a cycling tour final should have," concludes UCI representative Harald Tiedemann, president of the Norwegian Cycling Federation and head of the UCI Road World Championships 2016 in Bergen.

"Denmark has over the years promoted itself as a cycling event nation and destination. The 2011 UCI Road World Championships, the start of the Giro d'Italia in 2012 and in recent years also the Gran Fondo. These are all events that have helped to brand Denmark and cycling. Therefore it is also great to see that the UCI World Cycling Tour Final being staged in Denmark," says Lars Lundov, CEO of Sport Event Denmark. Sport Event Denmark partners the event.
