UIM F1 Powerboat World Championship Appoints Public Relations Firm

Powerboating - 01 Apr 2004

Singapore, April 1, 2004 – Fulford PR has been appointed to oversee the entire international public relations account for UIM F1 Powerboat World Championship 2004, after rolling out a successful communications plan for the UIM F1 Powerboat World Championship in Singapore last October. The appointment by Independent Sports Marketing, the F1 rights owners and worldwide marketing coordinators for the Championships, includes the execution of a comprehensive communications plan and on the ground support at each of the 13 races worldwide including Asia, Europe and the Middle East.

This year the UIM F1 Power Boat Championships has added 6 new venues to the calendar including Mumbai, Saudi Arabia, Shanghai, Korea, Hong Kong and Indonesia. This move reflects the growing trend among motorsports events towards Asia as growing opportunities present themselves and an even bigger potential audience. Last year each race was broadcast to 350 million viewers worldwide, this year figures are set to increase especially with the recent appointment of TWi to oversee the global TV rights distribution.

Linda Fulford of Fulford PR, said, 'Exciting news for us as an agency – we’re looking forward to developing the profile of the sport and being so closely involved in the sport throughout the season. The F1 Powerboat Singapore Grand Prix last year was an immense success in Singapore and we are very excited to be chosen as part of the global team in bringing this world-class sporting event to the masses.'

Nicolo Di San Germano, F1 Rights Promoter of Idea Marketing said, 'We are very pleased to work together with Fulford PR once again, especially given the success in Singapore last October. Fulford PR has impressed us with both of their creativity and professionalism, and with their strong expertise in sports marketing as well as their global media network, we’re confident that it will be a great year for F1 Powerboat in 2004.'
