ULEB Cup Final Eight Torino 2008 Media Coverage

Basketball - 10 Apr 2008

The 2008 ULEB Cup Final Eight is setting a new standard for media coverage in the competition. The four-day event in Turin, Italy, has more accredited media and will reach a larger world-wide audience than any past ULEB Cup event. A record 250 journalists from 75 newspapers, internet sites, and radio and television station from 14 different countries have been accredited for the Final Eight. Furthermore, ULEB Cup partner Eurosport 2 will broadcast the game live in nine languages to 43 countries and a potential audience of over 24 million homes. These numbers are further evidence of the interest generated by the ULEB Cup in just its sixth season and its first with the Final Eight format. The ULEB Cup Final will be seen in far off countries such as Australia,  Maldives, Indonesia, Philippines and Hong Kong through Eurosport 2, whose commentators will announce the game in English, French, German, Italian, Russian, Polish, Romanian, Greek and Turkish. The success of its title-game broadcast is in addition to Eurosport 2's expansive ULEB Cup coverage all season long. As the competition’s host broadcaster, Eurosport 2 will offer basketball fans unrivalled coverage and production of the ULEB Cup Final Eight.

Just some days ago, the Eurosport Group and Euroleague Basketball announced the extension of their current deal through the 2010-2011 season, across all 43 countries where the channel is broadcast. Eurosport 2 will produce every Final Eight game and broadcast seven of them live. Additional programs will enhance the thorough live coverage including a 30-minute pre-game show before every match as well as highlights and interviews in the ULEB Cup Show, thanks to Eurosport 2's on-site teams. In addition, Center TV in Russia, TVV-Canal 9 and TV3 in Spain, as well as Channel 24 in Turkey are rights holders for this Final Eight. Other non-rights holders include TV Bulgaria and BNT in Bulgaria, Sky Italia in Italy, NTV+ and RTR-Sport in Russia, La Sexta and Televisio Badalona in Spain, as well as NTV Television, TRT and Kanal d-Besiktas in Turkey that will cover the event.
