Vodaphone Sponsor Netball New Zealand
Netball New Zealand (NNZ) and Fisher & Paykel are proud to welcome Vodaphone as naming rights sponsors of the Silver Ferns. New Zealand's team will now be known as The Vodaphone Silver Ferns, following the announcement of a five year deal between Netball New Zealand and the world's largest digital mobile phone company. The major benefits will be in supporting players and providing additional exposure through Vodaphone and Fisher & Paykel leveraging their involvement through incresed marketing and promotional activity.
Fisher & Paykel and Vodaphone are to be joint sponsors of a TVNZ countdown campaign to highlight the Silver Ferns' involvement in World Netball Championships '99 in Christchurch this September.
Netball New Zealand has introduced 'The Star Series', designed to satisfy customer thirst for quality events while, at the same time, helping to bridge the gap between domestic competition and international play. Three NZ teams - North, Central and South - will compete in round-robin format alongside an overseas side - this year England - with the two most successful teams meeting in a grand final. NZ teams, for 1999, will be selected from the Coca-Cola Cup event. Thrilling clashes are expected, ensuring the best players are involved in touch, exciting competition.
The Star Series also doubles as the final trials for the Vodaphone Silver Ferns selection and will provide an opportunity for a wider group of players to gain international experience. NNZ intends to expand the event, in future years, to include Australian state or regional teams and, potentially, the Pacific Island nations.
