Waterski World Cup In Northern Ireland - Enniskillen Stop To Deliver Season Champions Once Again

Waterskiing - 24 Aug 2007

WATERSKI WORLD CUP IN NORTHERN IRELAND
ENNISKILLEN STOP TO DELIVER SEASON CHAMPIONS ONCE AGAIN

The nineteenth Stop of the highly successful Waterski and Wakeboard World Cup series is now heading for the picturesque town of Enniskillen in Northern Ireland. It all takes place on September 7/9

With the thrilling conclusion to the previous Stop in Dubna in Russia still fresh in the minds of all World Cup athletes, this Enniskillen Stop will dictate the 2007 season’s winners. It will also be the third visit to Enniskillen since 2005. The City is located on an island separating the Upper and Lower Lough Erne. It is renowned for boating, water sports, cruising and fishing. The Waterski World Cup site’s natural beauty, in the 15th Century Castle’s shadow, adds to the uniqueness of this downtown venue. Playwrights Samuel Beckett and Oscar Wilde were both educated at nearby Portora Royal School, overlooking the towering Castle.

The sponsors of this Waterski World Cup Final will be Northern Ireland Events, Waterways Ireland, Fermanagh District Council, MasterCraft, WCSN and the International Water Ski Federation (IWSF). From a global population of approximately 30,000,000 active Waterski and Wakeboard participants, only the top 20 IWSF ranked athletes qualify for entry. These will include World Slalom Champion, Will Asher (GBR), World Shortboard Champions Nicolas LeForestier (FRA) and Mandy Nightingale (USA) and World Jump Champions Ageliki Andriopoulou (GRE) and Jaret Llewellyn (CAN). All of these contestants will arrive in Enniskillen directly from the bi-annual World Championships in Linz in Austria and will be in peak form for an epic close to yet another memorable Waterski World Cup season.

The entire Waterski and Wakeboard World Cup series is supported by a major media programme. This includes TV News Edits distributed to 400 million viewers, a 26 minute TV Show distributed to 200 million viewers, and a series of Press Releases issued to 16,500 media contacts in over 190 countries. This year, for the first time, World Championship Sports Network (WCSN) will deliver the programme to 40 million homes in the USA – http://www.wcsn.com/. They also work with 42 Olympic Sports and have Studios in New York and Hollywood, California.

MasterCraft will again supply and service all the competition boats. Donal Connolly of the Irish Waterski Federation also plans to release for the first time a new piece of electronic equipment to help the spectators enjoy the thrills of Slalom Skiing even more than before. He was also responsible for the creation of SplashEye, the automatic Jump Distance measuring equipment currently used in the UK, Australia and the USA.
