WCSN to Deliver Exclusive, Full Coverage of the 2006-2007 FIS World Cup Online and on TV

Skiing - 10 Nov 2006

Entire Season of Alpine Skiing, Cross Country, Nordic Combined, Ski Jumping, Freestyle Skiing, and Snowboarding Available to U.S. Fans for First Time

SANTA MONICA, CA - November 9, 2006 - World Championship Sports Network (WCSN), the premier destination for fans of Olympic and lifestyle sports, has partnered with the International Ski Federation (FIS) and the U. S. Ski and Snowboard Association (USSA) to deliver the most comprehensive season-long coverage ever of FIS World Cup competitions. Exclusive live and on-demand coverage of the entire six-month season for all alpine sports will begin November 11, 2006 with the FIS Alpine World Cup from Levi, Finland, available online at http://www.wcsn.com/ and on television via the weekly syndicated series, World Championship Sports (check local listings).

Coverage will include the entire World Cup circuit in alpine skiing, cross country, freestyle, nordic combined, ski jumping and snowboard. Many of the events will be available live or same-day. Live coverage of the U.S. Ski Team’s major domestic alpine events will also be featured.

“Never before has the entire FIS World Cup season been available to U.S. fans. WCSN is the first and only network to cover each FIS World Cup sport from start to finish, “ said WCSN Chairman Claude Ruibal, one of the network’s founders. “We’re thrilled to partner with FIS and USSA to showcase these competitions from around the world. This is an incredible opportunity for fans of these sports to follow these amazing athletes all season long.”

Following last year’s world class performances by American alpine ski racers Lindsey Kildow, Julia Mancuso, Ted Ligety and Bode Miller along with dominating performances by Austrians Benjamin Raich, Michael Walchhofer and Scandinavians Aksel Svindal (NOR) and Anja Paerson (SWE), this year’s series of races promise to generate even more excitement.

On WCSN, fans can follow their favorite skiers all season long online through complete, uninterrupted live and on-demand video footage via a $4.95 monthly subscription plus free access to results, photo galleries, behind-the-scenes features, blogs and more. Top highlights from all events will be televised on World Championship Sports.

“We are excited WCSN is showcasing our sport on its platforms,” said U.S. Ski and Snowboard Association Vice President of Sales and Marketing Ted Morris. “This will give our fans great access to the excitement of World Cup racing from around the globe - something they’ve never had the opportunity to do in the past.”

The FIS World Cup is the highest level of ski and snowboard competition in the world. Events are held in six different sports and take place across Europe, Scandinavia, Asia, the United States, and Canada each year, generally from October through March. Each sport’s tour has a range of disciplines and competitions. Broadcast schedules for alpine skiing, cross country, nordic combined, ski jumping, freestyle skiing, and snowboarding can be found at WCSN.com.
