West Indies Cricket Board – Bowled over!
The World Academy of Sport delivered another successful 5 Day International Event Administration programme in Manchester last week.
The programme captured a truly international mix of delegates from National Governing Bodies, City Councils, International Federations and the Talented Athlete Scholarship Scheme, all eager to discuss today’s key issues and challenges faced within today’s major sporting events industry.
Nelecia Yeates, Commercial Manager (Ag) for the West Indies Cricket Board (WICB), found the areas focusing on Legacy, Sponsorship and Brand Connection to be particularly insightful - commenting;
“It has completely changed my concept of sponsorship and brand connection, and what I found most useful from the programme was the legacy topic. It showed me the importance of inputting legacy into the bidding process and facility development.”
“Sportcity in Manchester is an excellent example of legacy in action, so the tour of this venue really brought light to what we were learning about.”
“The group project element really brought the programme to life and I will be taking my experiences back to share with colleagues. I will use this to work from and to build future activities around. I would definitely recommend this programme - it is a must do”
The programme featured key influential figures from the sporting world such as Mr François Carrard, Mr Richard Bunn and Mr Patrick Nally, amongst the programmes presenters, along with top academic staff from the Manchester Business School within which the Academy is based.
Programme Director, Michael Cary commented “it was a pleasure once again to welcome both our international and national based participants to Manchester for this flagship programme. It is always exciting to see each participant have their ‘light-bulb-moment’ at different points throughout the week and is testament to the calibre of presenters we have to make the programme such a practical learning experience.”
The Academy will deliver its next 5 Day programme from 12-16 April 2010 at the Manchester Business School. Registration is now open for applicants to apply.
