Search on for Nitro World Games hosts in 2022 and 2023

Thrill One Sports and Entertainment, the independent action sports operator and media company, has begun the search for destinations and venues interested in hosting the Nitro World Games, its annual extreme sports event, in 2022 and 2023.
This year’s two-day event is scheduled to take place at the Suncorp Stadium in Brisbane, Australia on 23 and 24 October, featuring freestyle motorcross, BMX, skateboarding and scooter competitions. It will be the first time the flagship event has been held outside the US.
As part of efforts to expand its headline event internationally after staging smaller showcase events in France and the UK in 2019, the operator has launched its host city procurement programme to secure sites for the competition in 2022 and 2023.
Expressions of interest are due by 26 February, with bidding and event information available at tim@thesportsconsultancy.com.
The bid process is being managed by The Sports Consultancy, the UK-based sports marketing and bidding agency, which said it has already reecived interest from countries across Asia-Pacific, North America, South America and Europe.
Winning bidders will co-create the event with Thrill One and will also enjoy the support of the operator’s full-service media house, which has produced the broadcast for Nitro World Games since its inception.
Early last year, Nitro Circus and fellow action sports entities Street League Skateboarding, the world’s premier street skateboarding competition organiser, and film production house Superjacket Productions, were brought together to create Thrill One Sports and Entertainment.
Led by chief executive Joe Carr, the firm had intended to capitalise on the growing popularity of skateboarding, BMX biking and surfing, all three of which will feature at the delayed Tokyo 2020 Olympic games, and stage 30 events in countries including the USA, China, Australia and the UK.
However, because of the coronavirus-enforced shutdown of sporting events and continued restrictions on international travel, most programmes were cancelled last year.
