Sport TV extends deal with Infront for MXGP
Motorcycling - 01 Mar 2021
Sport TV, the pay-television operator in Portugal, has extended its broadcast rights deal to show action from motor cycling’s FIM Motocross World Championship for a further three years.
The agreement was struck with Infront, the sports marketing agency that has its own Infront Moto Racing division (formerly known as Youthstream).
The agreement means that the Portuguese MXGP round, set to take place on 23 and 24 October this year, will continue to be shown live on Sport TV, and that a Motocross-focused magazine-style show will continue to feature the other races.
Sport TV first showed MXGP in 2018, when it signed a deal to provide coverage up to and including the 2020 season.
Infront Moto Racing holds exclusive television, marketing and global promotional rights to MXGP in a long-term deal with the FIM, the international motorcycling federation, running to 2036.
In October last year, Infront Moto Racing secured an extension with Eurosport, across Europe, running to the end of 2022.
The 2021 MXGP season will start on 23 May in the Netherlands, and is currently scheduled to finish in Argentina on 21 November.
