SHV the latest handball body to enlist Sportradar for fraud detection
Handball - 26 Nov 2021
The Swiss Handball Federation (SHV), the national governing body for the sport, has partnered with Sportradar Integrity Services, a dedicated subsidiary of the international sports data intelligence and digital content service provider.
Through a multi-year agreement, SIS will provide its Universal Fraud Detection System for the monitoring of Swiss handball events, including the Swiss Handball League, the Swiss Handball Cup and other men's and women's games.
The UFDS, SIS says, “is an advanced and proven bet monitoring system that has been independently assessed and verified by recognised experts.”
It analyses betting patterns for abnormalities through a field of experts, reporting any suspicious matches to partners.
SIS is partnered with over 100 sports associations and leagues and recently added the International Handball Federation, that sport’s worldwide governing body, to that number.
The company also performs a similar role for the European Handball Federation, the continental governing body, in a deal struck in January that lasts until 2030.
Sportradar has also teamed up with Fiba, basketball's international federation, and Basketball Australia in recent weeks to provide its integrity services.
Jürgen Krucker, managing director of the SHV, said: “We are taking all necessary steps to protect our sport, and we know that the monitoring of bets at all levels of competition plays an important role in this.
"Sportradar Integrity Services has a proven track record in the field of sports integrity. By bringing them on board, we will have a crucial insight into global betting activities related to our competitions.”
Andreas Krannich, managing director of Sportradar Integrity Services, added: “We have seen a growing threat to the integrity of customers in recent years, particularly due to recent global events and the increasing interest in betting on sports such as handball, so we are delighted very much about this partnership with the SHV.”
