DAZN retains UEFA national team rights in Japan, Germany, Austria, and Switzerland

Author: Tariq Saleh

DAZN, the global sports streaming service, has today announced the renewal of its exclusive rights agreement for UEFA national team soccer competitions in Japan, Germany, Austria, and Switzerland.

As part of the extension, the platform will have rights to show the upcoming UEFA Nations League, the biennial international men’s competition, qualifiers for the 2024 European Championship and 2026 World Cup, and a selection of friendlies.

The deals have been renewed for six seasons in Japan and for four seasons in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland.

The agreement was struck with CAA Eleven, the sales rights agency for national team competitions organized by UEFA.

The new season of the Nations League begins on June 2 and will feature major nations such as Spain, Italy, England, and Portugal.

DAZN will air upcoming high-profile clashes including Spain vs Portugal (June 2) and England vs Italy (June 11).

In terms of the qualifiers, the over-the-top platform will show Scotland’s clash against Ukraine in the delayed playoff for the 2022 World Cup.

The winner of that game will then play Wales in the decisive play-off match on June 5 to qualify for Qatar.

The agreement additionally includes rights for Wednesday’s (June 1) Finallisima clash between Italy and Argentina at Wembley stadium in London as winners of the Euros and South American equivalent Copa America.

DAZN’s rights portfolio across Japan, Germany, Austria, and Switzerland includes the Japanese J.League, German Bundesliga, Spain’s LaLiga, Italy’s Serie A, and France’s Ligue 1, as well as club competitions like the UEFA Champions League and Women's Champions League.
