The FISA Executive Committee is assessing the latest situation with the Russian Rowing Federation in which nine anti-doping code violations have taken place in a twelve-month period. The results of this assessment could be the suspension of the entire Russian Rowing Federation for up to four years.

FISA’s Executive Committee convened a hearing to consider the status of the Russian Rowing Federation after seven of their rowers had been banned from the sport for having committed anti-doping rule violations during a twelve month period.

FISA, the International Rowing Federation, today announced that a further three Russian rowers have been suspended because of anti-doping code violations which took place in July 2007.

The International Rowing Federation (FISA) announced this morning that three athletes, Vladimir Varfolomeev and Denis Moiseev from the Russian lightweight men’s double and Svetlana Fedorova from the Russian women’s eight have been declared ineligible for a period of two years for a violation of Article 2.2 of these Anti-Doping Bye-Laws; Use of a Prohibited Method.

A FISA Doping Hearing Panel decided yesterday that three rowers had committed violations of the Anti-Doping provisions of the FISA Rules of Racing.
