Members of the Executive of Swimming South Africa met with Roland Schoeman and Ryk Neethling on Monday 13th September to discuss the unfortunate standoff that occurred between the team members and Swimming South Africa during the Olympic Games in Athens.

UK Sport’s efforts to bring the world’s leading sports events to the UK continued today as the organisation committed £950,000 of Lottery funding towards the staging costs of the 2008 World Short Course Championships in Manchester.

Britain’s bid to stage the 2006 IPC World Swimming Championships in Swansea received a significant boost this week as UK Sport – the organisation responsible for co-ordinating major events on home soil – awarded £382,000 of Lottery funding towards the bidding and staging costs of the event.
