Zug, Switzerland / Beijing, PR China, 20 October 2006 – Infront Sports & Media and the Chinese Basketball Association (CBA) have signed a ground-breaking sponsorship agreement with China Mobile Communications Corporation (China Mobile/CMCC) for basketball in China. This is the most comprehensive sponsorship deal ever agreed for the CBA and also the single largest sponsorship agreement announced thus far by Infront.

The FIBA Central Board, the supreme executive body of the International Basketball Federation, met over the weekend in Paris, France. Amongst a variety of items, the 20 members discussed the relation between national federations, clubs and leagues, changes to the official basketball rules, new qualification criteria for the Olympic Games and FIBA World Championships, regulations governing player agents and a new FIBA ethics code.

Minister for Arts, Sport and Tourism, Mr. John O’Donoghue, T.D., yesterday launched the Basketball Ireland 2004 Community Hoops Programme.

The fight against doping: the European Commission and the International Basketball Federation sign a convention to help keep basketball clean. The campaign 'For a clean future' launched by the International Basketball Federation (FIBA) is intended to raise awareness among young players and spectators of the damage to health caused by doping, and to provide information on banned substances and the penalties imposed for using them.
