Canicross in Seoul, Korea, and bikejoring in Bogota, Colombia and Santiago de Chile demonstrate the appeal and growth of sled dog sports as a result of development initiatives by the International Federation of Sleddog Sports.

In preliminary research funded by the International Federation of Sled Dog Sports, sled dogs were studied before and after participation in two major long distance competitions, the Iditarod and the Yukon Quest. Both races cover more than a thousand miles.

TANDIL, ARGENTINA - The first South American Bikejoring and Canicross Championship was held on the 27th of July 2005.

The third world championships to be held in these newly recognized sled dog disciplines, canicross, bikejoring, scooter, and cart racing completed the 2005-6 series of sled dog events.

The General Assembly concluded its round of business on Sunday, including the adoption of a new by-law to include within IFSS the addition to the Council of a new director to represent the interests of breed-specific sled dog competitors. On Monday the new Council signed the final contractual agreement with the Trail Club of Europe (TCE) to host the 2003 IFSS World Championship Race in Germany in February.
